Once more goose island intrigues me and i bought one of their red ales in a mix and match six pack.
THEIR CLAIM:This ale pays homage to the Irish who settled on Kilgubbin Island, in Chicago over one-hundred years ago. Made in the Irish tradition, Kilgubbin is brewed with roast barley and chocolate malts giving it a rich ruby color. A touch of malted rye gives it a spicy finish.
Brewery Hometown: Chicago
APPEARANCE: Sightly cloudy dark amber with red coloring.
AROMA: Smells rich and dark with a sweet ending.
TASTE: chocolate malts. not a bad flavor but hardly pronounced. For an Irish beer i thought it would be a little more flavorful. instead it tastes a little watered down. don’t get me wrong it still has its Extremely easy to take down with little bite at all. I’m catching a few flavors that aren’t exactly native to “beer” which i could only chalk up to the flavor and its good but its just not as bold as i was expecting.
ALCOHOL: 4.5%
One or Six? If your in the mood for a red ale 6 would be ok. if your looking for a simple change of pace, 2 will suffice.
COST: Sixer: around $7
OVERALL: 8/10 Ehhhhhhhhhhh
