The chemist in me got a little week in the knees when I saw beer barrels arranged to represent metal/crystal atom latices on this four pack. Alas, the chemistry was not right between us in the end…

Brewery Hometown: Belgium
Appearance: Bottle is awesome looking, kudos! Thick white head on the initial pour, dies off fast leaving a pale orange beer.
Aroma: Strong, typical Belgian overtones…with unfortunate farts of skunk. I wasn’t that impressed despite the high hopes for this pricey import.
Taste: Crisp initial bite, high carbonation. Flavor is much more complex than the aroma, yet still fails to float my boat. The chorus of grains give the golden, grainy taste found in many Belgian ales; done well here, it just doesn’t set it apart or anything. Its ‘complexity’ does more to perplex than anything else. Aftertaste is smooth (reminds me of tart apples?), but it doesn’t add much to the overall experience. Given that its packaging sets it up to be a high grade beer I had high grade expectations, but it only bubbled its way into mediocrity.
Alcohol: 8.0 %Drink one or all?: Pick up something else to review.
Cost: $9? /4 pack
Overall: 7.0 Save your $$$ and try something else.
